Flagging works both ways. You guys may be crying that you got flagged but in a big city like Toronto spammers and abusers rule the craigslist. It is actually the opposite for us and flagging needs to be done more often. There are some immigrants in our forums that post 100 ads in one shot and sell everything from child porn to pirated software, games, movies and other scams. I am licensed with the state of NH to take in and rehome parrots . My ads are flagged over and over again . I have complained to the staff at craigslist by phone , letter , and email. In stead of doing something about it I get blamed . Iv had to open new accounts because they have blocked me 3 times . Im sick of the S H I T and its time something is done about this annoying flagging system .

I live in San Francisco, and my re-homing ads in the pet section get flagged all the time. Then I get hate mails from RESCUES, saying how dogs die in shelters blah blah blah. They also email me and say that people should adopt second-hand dogs from shelters. The reality is that dogs do die in shelters, but I really don't care about these dogs I have never met. I mean, do we adopt children from Africa instead of giving birth to our own??? Most people want puppies they can raise according to their own preferences, and they don't want some crazy biter adult dog that was not properly assessed by rescues. Rescues flag our ads because we are competing against them for the good homes. It's a political choice, and ultimately the family's choice where they want to adopt their new family members from. It's not the flaggers' place to judge and decide...

I've been on CL for about 2 years and never had a problem. But now a flagging gang is targeting one of my ads. I know this because it had been flagged over 15 times in 2 weeks. I have gotten emails from the gang telling me to take the item down because they don't like it, not worth the price, etc. (By the way, I have called shops that sell this item and it is a very fair price.)

I've been taking care of kittens that aren't mine at my own expense for several months. I had misgivings, but I posted an ad on craigslist. Little did I know what I was in for. Even though my ad didn't violate terms of use, it got flagged, and I got shunted to their so-called Flag Help Forum where four goons verbally abused me and acted like they knew why my ad was flagged when they really had no clue. It's a nightmare.

They say you get flagged because you 'violate' the rules. Wrong, you get flagged because someone does not like your ad, regardless of the rules. Problem is flag monkey 1 sees your ad, you put put a comma in the wrong place "This Will Not Do!". Monkey 1 logs into his flaggers chat, posts the link to your ad and hundreds of flaggers from around the world flag your ad without even reading it. You just got 'moderated' by YOUR COMMUNITY? Unfortunately, there is nothing that can be done. And if you repost 5 or 6 times, your ads get autoflagged, because your IP is now in the spammers db..... CL SUCKS!

I keep getting flagged for trying to rehome a pet. My ads follow CL rules and I have seen other ads just like mine that do not get flagged. I don't know why I am being targeted. Everyone should turn to kijiji.com. I use to not know about it but it has been great!

It's not just flagging. If you try to advertise for just wanting a pet, you get hate mail. I don't understand why people are actively trying to keep animals from getting homes. It's like, if you are not able to adopt from the animal shelter a large breed dog with behavior issues that needs a huge amount of remedial training and can't be around kids, you don't deserve a pet. Those flaggers and hate mailers are encouraging good homes to turn to breeders.

I am so damn tired of posting ads on craigslist or craplist and have them flagged and removed minutes after publishing. The ad I post is true intentioned and I take it seriously but obviously craplist has bored staff that like to sit around and piss people off by deleting their ads. Shut down craplist.

Go to your Local FBI Office with copies of your flagged removals and any emails you may have recieved what the flaggers are doing is against the law in most states and violates some federal laws

there is no cumminity of flaggers there are volenteers that can remove your ad they do no need a reason to remove it there are state and federal laws that do protect people I have a flagger that emailed me the he was going to remove my ad and was going to keep removing my ad until I signed up in an area that requires me to give them my phone number under Oklahoma law this is Harrassment and is also Extorsion and under the federal do not call list laws I dont have to Give out my phone number to any company so I go tuesday to the FBI office in OKC and let them deal with CL and thier Volenteers

I was thinking about this and I think I came up with something that isn't necessarily a complete solution but something that would at least push the issue further up the ladder of Craigslist's concerns. FLAG EVERYTHING!!! Yes, flag everything. Grab a buddy, pick a popular section in a specific city. Both of you flag every single ad in that section from both your home computer and your cell phone with browsing capabilities and if you have access to a work computer at the same time, that too. Make it so at the end of the day, there isn't one single ad in the entire section that used to have pages of ads. I've heard people say it takes 10,000 flags for an ad to be removed. I call bullcrap on that. I think it's as few as 3-5 and even less if the person posting has been flagged recently. This would cause a specific section of Cl to basically be shut down. That would make more and more people complain to Craigslist and hopefully force Craigslist to implement some sort of script that limits how people flag. Just an idea. Anyone have any thoughts?

There's some big time asshole flagging all my ads. I keep reposting them and he keeps flagging them (up to 15 times a day). It's sooooo annoying! Craigslist should force everybody to log in before flagging so they can see who's doing massive flagging just to hurt someone else.

I am a victim of CL flaggers for the first time in 3 years. I used to love CL, it helped me find some great renters for my small rental property. Now I have to repost my ad constantly-- AND it conforms to the TOU. It's been an eye opening experience to see all of the sites devoted to making concerted efforts to flag posts they don't like or find annoying or too good. There are free demos of software that will flag up to 50 posts a minute. CL must like the flaggers or they would make you sign in, in order to flag. Flagging certain posts really hurts the consumer because they may be oblivious to the fact that other products/housing are available to them. If you have competition, why not eliminate them by flagging?(if you have no ethics/morals, or course)

The flaggers on Wash DC's Pets Community list only want ads relating to pet adoption. I had two goats I needed to let go cheap, I really wanted them to go to a good home with children who would enjoy them and give them a good home. My ad on craigs list was repeatedly flagged over and over, I had no choice but to let the butcher have them, The only good that came out of this was the meat was donated to a needy family, but that does not help the two goats. My CL account page is all red. Each time I am flagged, I renew. I do it 10-20x a day. They hate it, hate me, they told me that I am spamming. I tried to post some adult rabbits on Craigslist today, and I was flagged. I tried the ads a couple different ways in the pet section. One with a rehoming fee, and one with them for free to good homes. Both got flagged. Normally I sell extra rabbits from our farm to a snake guy. He has a giant snake that can eat up to 6lb rabbits. Yes, sounds gross, but snakes have to eat to. I decided since some of these rabbits I had for 2-3 years. It would be nice for them to go to pet homes instead of the snake guy. Flaggers stopped that idea cold in it's tracks. I also tried to list a three month old Chihuahua for $75. $75 doesn't even cover the three trips to the vet for all her shots. They flagged it. I worked in a city animal shelter for about 2 years. I unfortuntely put down hundreds of cats and dogs. The only purebred dogs I put down were Pitbulls, and Chows. Usually because they would bite or were too aggressive to be adopted out. Purebred dogs had waiting lists of people to adopt them when they rarely came in. So it's kinda silly that the flaggers have a fit and flag right away ads for purebred dogs. People who let their backyard dogs breed with each other, or to neighbors dogs cause most of the problems. Not responsible breeders. Any animal that has ever left my farm. I tell the people I want it back if for any reason they can't keep it. I got excited when I first found Craigslist. After reading post after post, on craigslist, of caring people now done trying to help unwanted pets, because of flaggers making their volunteering a full time, PITA job and then seeing over and over again that craigslist staff does nothing to monitor who's flagging what, I know I'm done with that site...what a joke.. I'm suprprised at this point, since craigslist staff obviously doesn't care there's a pet flagging problem, that they haven't been sent a 1,000 or so "stray" examples that they could list (get flagged) and relist (get flagged) and relist AND RELIST, for some hands on learning.

Flaggers serve a a purpose...WAIT...here me out. When you post an ad you can't repost within 48...72 hours, right? Everytime my ad gets flagged I repost it...and it goes right back to the top. Hey, it requires some patience, but in the end, I win...they loose...just keep re-posting... You can flag animals for sale. Animals for adoption are fine and so are services so I am confused here. You cannot sell puppies on craigs list that's all. You can re-home an animal. I have done it several times with no problems.

Recently I had taken in a dog that the owner could no longer care for. I made it my resposiblity to find this puppy a forever home. I posted pics and all the information with a 40 dollar rehoming fee , only to get flagged over and over again. After being so fed up with the behavior on CL, I wrote an email to MR CRAIG him self. What did he do you might ask? Nothing, Nothing all, not a bit concerded about the rediculious behavior going on in the pet forum. Anything that is purebred or a bully breed, they flag. I fought the flaggers and won. It took 2 weeks and 32 re-posts, They finally gave up. They would flag and I'd re-post within minutes.... I loved the game. Be persistent, you can win also. Just make sure your ad is legit, and have fun.

I had to put my dog down because we didn't have the money to feed her anymore, we didn't have the money to put an ad in the paper, and the shelter wanted us to pay them to take her in. We tried to find her a home on CL and we were not even asking a fee for her yet I got flagged every time. she was spayed, had all her shots, house broken and the best with kids. we didn't want to dump her someplace and hope she was found and given a loving home. I loved her I didn't want her to suffer. I don't know who kept flagging my postings but this person is killing more pets then they are saving

Flaggers need to be stopped. They are really only hurting the animals not anyone else. They flag pet items for sale, the flag pet services, they flag pets that are out of their price range even though CL doesn't state an apropriate re home fee. These idiots think they should flag anything over $100 most of the time. But yet people don't flag the ferret ads that are clearly selling to make a profit. Makes me sick. They flag animals that are free to good home. The flaggers are a bunch of Morons.

Every time I see a pet ad flagged, I have a vision of the poor abandoned cat in that I saw in its death throes after some jerk in a truck purposely got to before I did. (Please reconsider the fat lady flagger clip art.)

I Have placed 3 ads in the last half hour and each of them have been flagged less than 5min. after they have gone up. ~Frustrating~

Carpet cleaners cannot advertise on craigslist seattle tacoma without getting flagged within 4 or 5 minutes. It is really sad. Flagging down people advertising their services like this is criminal behavior, and it needs to be stopped. My only consolation is that I believe karma will bite them in the butt.
