-------- General Posting/Viewing Tips ---------

Want to see everything?  Even the flagged down ads?  Sign up with Craigslist.org RSS feed (click link for Seattle example) Every single ad will go to your email and/or a blog site of your preference.  The RSS feed button is on the bottom right corner in the section you love most!  Pet sections are great for this!

Post your ad, immediately delete it from your account and wait for a few hours.  Go back to your account, select the ad and push the "UNDELETE" button.  This works especially well for pet posters because animal activist thugs monitor the ads as they come up,  Meaning certain ads will only stay up for a minute or two if on the top of the 1st page.  If you can get to the 2nd page of listings, your ad will stay up longer.  When you "UNDELETE",  your ad goes to where it would have been when you originally posted it, hours before.  People searching for something you are adopting out will still see/search out your ad,
but flaggers have moved on to the newer posted ads.  It works!

Repost your ad after a 48 hour wait to get the maximum # of flags returned to you, if you repost immediately it is said that the number of flags needed to take down your ad decreases.

Make sure you are in the right section.  Barter is for trading, not selling.  Pay careful attention to the misc. guidelines posted throughout craigslist.org.

Do Not mention flaggers or being flagged.  Many flaggers who patrol a certain area will take great notice to the recognition of their meddling and will take joy in flagging you again and again.

Ads full of capitols and symbols are hard to read and often attract flags.

If there is a price field, fill it in.  This makes it searchable to the general public by price, a good thing.

Always use Anonymouse emails from yahoo, hotmail or gmail.  Never use a real name or workplace email.

Do not use visable hit counters, there are invisible ones available.

Do not make your ad too nice w/ extra pictures and graphics.  Craigslist was intended for the small guy.

Use real pictures of your item/pet - using downloaded pictures attracts flags.

Do not swear, use racial slurs or be sexist in your ads.

Do not post a huge backstory about the life of the item/pet.  Be factual and to the point.

Do not post auction type ads to the "highest bidder".  "Willing to negotiate" is a good phrase to use instead.

Rework your ad often, making it appear completely different with different pictures, words and title.

Use various phone numbers if possible, evil flaggers like to search for your ad using parts of your phone numbers.

Post after 5pm, many flaggers flag while at work.

Is the flagging relentless?  Put your contact information in the title field.  This information can stay up for an extra 15-30 minutes.

Implant an invisible free counter on your ad to see roughly how many people viewed your ad before it was removed which will give you a rough figure on the number of flags in your local area.  If flagged off in 5 min and 12 people viewed your ad, 12 flags *might* be required in your city to remove an ad in that particular section that you posted in.

-----------  Below are tips specifically for pet section posters -----------

State your adoption fee, there is no written rule but animal activist flaggers have decided it must be so.

Keep your supplies separate from the pet, except for birds.  (birds can die if separated from their home in the adoption process)

If your pet is Not spayed or neutered, just don't mention it.  Flaggers have decided that every unaltered dog will be snatched up by evil backyard breeders that will breed 15231 puppies per year.  It is important to just not mention it.

Repeat the words "adoption" and "rehoming" often within your ad.

Do Not mention the words "selling" or "for sale" in your pet ad.

Discussion in ad space is flaggable in every section, please use the various forums for discussion.

If you have a puppy for adoption, make sure you state why you must rehome.  There are people who pick up cheap low cost puppies and then "flip" them on craigslist for more money.  Flaggers look for these situations.

More detail = Less Flags   -  ad space is free, use it!  State the age, breed, vetting, condition, temperament, quirks and adoption fee.

Litter of puppies are always flagged, your best bet is to list them individually and ask for contact information before you respond.  Flaggers have been known to call from blocked numbers in order to harvest more information.

Check your state's minimum taxable income, flaggers have been known to report people to the IRS for undisclosed income on dogs and puppies within the craigslist pet ads.

--------------- Steps to Stop Flagger Harrasment ------------

* Alert Craigslist Staff with 911 in the title of email:      abuse@craigslist.org craig@craigslist.org

* Demand they do something like block the harasser or contact the harasser's Internet Service Provider (ISP).
(depending on the situation, they might tell you to call local police, although they advise this - it's only to protect THEM, not you)

*Threat of personal harm and/or death threats should be reported immediately to your local Police department.
Make sure to get a reference number to the situation.

-At this point, decide how serious this is and how far you want to take it, involving time & money.

**** Your only recourse to stop this harassment and not spend any money on it is to IGNORE and stop posting for at least 1 week, in extreme cases - much much longer.****

*Should you decide to follow through on this harassment, these are the steps you should take:

    - Print out all threats and proof of  harassment
    - Contact an attorney specializing in cybercrimes
    - Have attorney present a case of harassment/slander or libel to a judge, get court order/subpoena
    - Present court order to Craig Newmark of Craigslist.org.
    - Craig must give you the IP information and co-operate 100%
    - IP info will give you the stalker/harasser's "Internet Service Provider" or ISP
    - An ISP must bill someone and with that court order you can get the billing information.
    - Back to court - ask for a restraining order and/or a "cease and desist" order from the judge.
    - Send it certified mail to the harasser/stalker.
    - Go back to civil court to seek damages if necessary.  Most courts take business slander and business harassment very            seriously if you can prove that you lost income on behalf of the harassment or slander.

PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOU FOLLOW THROUGH!  VERY IMPORTANT! Click here for our email.

Some things to keep in mind:

- No one deserves to be treated like scum for posting a free online classified ad.  NO ONE.

- Regardless of what the Craigslist staff says about "community moderation" they are the ones raking in over 20 million a  year in profit.  They can fix this site, moderate it and protect their loyal users!

- By doing the above you would pave the way for others experiencing the same abuse by these flagger/thugs.

-You would also be sending out a clear word to flaggers and Craigslist staff that you DO have legal rights against this cyberharassment.

---------------  What can you do? ----------------

It's important to keep statistical data to present to Craigslist.  You can do this by going to your desired section and taking a quick copy & paste of the listed ads.  Click through each ad and mark on your pasted titles the ones that are "bad" and the ones that adhere to the Terms of Use.  Refresh every 15 minutes and as the titles start to disappear, mark the amount of time it took and whether it was a "good" or "bad" ad.  Present the study privately to Craigslist staff (abuse@craigslist.org), demand a response if none is gotten.  Be polite.

Contact those that are frustrated by the flagging, urge them to sign up with us and to contact Craigslist Abuse (abuse@craigslist.org
) regarding their situation.  The only way Craigslist staff is going to know the extent of the problem is if we can get as many people together as possible, emailing them every day.  Make sure your emails are short, sweet and to the point.

Sign up with www.stopabusivecraigslistflaggers.com and give them your story too.  They have an open letter to Craig that anyone can sign and much more information.

Make yourself known in your local community, continue to post about what the flaggers do and what the issue is in your section or city.  Don't give up, most people accept Craigslist as is, but as a community ran site - we (the community) can insist on changes to this site.

Contact local shelters and rescues and ask if they use Craigslist, why or why not... and what their experience with it has been.  If it has been very negative (many of these places can no longer use Craigslist because of the flaggers) then ask them to send a quick note to craig (craig@craigslist.org) or abuse (abuse@craigslist.org) and have them include their 501c non-profit number.  This could really show Craigslist staff how horrible these pet flaggers can be and also allow the flag thresh hold to be raised.  Keep a record of all the ones that have had horrible experiences and send your own email with each listed w/ non-profit number.

Stay vocal in the craigslist forums.  Specifically the feedback forum and the flag help forum.  Both are vicious forums ran by crazy flaggers, so beware.

Post notices in your local community about the flagging gangs, competition flagging and vendetta flagging.  Refer them here!
